Philtre

A Philtre - or philter - is a love potion - a tea or wine based drink which when imbibed, caused the person drinking it to fall in love with another person. Philtres were believed to be magiclal and often contained herbal ingredients - and were once outlawed for a time in Anglo-Saxon England. [1]
